The Black Sisters: Bellatrix
Yay! Internets! I am seriously thinking of switching from cable to DSL because my computer hasn't been connected to the internet for weeks now. And the cable company says they can't come fix it until Saturday. Bastards! Anyway, I am enjoying this moment of being connected while it lasts, 'cos it might not last long.

Soooo.... I have this theory that all good purebloods probably have portraits done of their children to shop them around to other marriageable pureblood families. So, I thought I'd do what those might look like for the Black sisters.

More sketchbook stuff
Here is another random selection from my sketchbook. Pretty random, even for me. Luna, I get, but I'm not really sure where Karkaroff and Krum, of all people, came from.

Deathly Hallows: The Seven Potters
This is a very exciting chapter, with lots of chases, and death, and Death Eaters, and Our Hero falling off a motorbike, etc. Naturally, the image that leaped out at me was...

Deathly Hallows: The Dursleys Departing
Ah, Chapter Three. As much as I loved you (Vernon! Being a jerk! Petunia! Also being a jerk! Dursley! First steps on the road to being an okay guy!), I didn't really want to draw you.

But Petunia, you horse-faced, bony-jawed, judgmental you...

... here you are. )

a few more sketches
As I'm trying to finish a painting for my dad's birthday (6 days!), I haven't had as much time to draw Harry Potter stuff except in my sketchbook. So... here's some stuff from my sketchbook. :)

Oops.
My cunning plan was to begin October doing a scene a day from Deathly Hallows. And indeed, I have the first scene drawn. However, in my infinite wisdom, I drew it bigger than the bed of my scanner. So, until I can run over to Kinko's tomorrow to shrink it down, I suppose it will have to remain unshared. Alas.

In the meantime, here are some sketches to make me feel like less of a loser. I've had a very busy few weeks, so all I've done in the Potter-verse is sketch. (I'm trying to finish a painting for my Dad's birthday, and that's coming along pretty well.)

At the Roost
This picture was inspired by Fernwithy's "Marauder's Roost." It takes place right after Victoire Apparates to Teddy's island. (I keep hearing the Irish guy from Braveheart: "It's my island!")

Doggies!
Last night, I gave my sister a painting I've been working on for a while. It's for her office- a portrait of her dogs. After I started it, she got another dog, but I'm going to wait until the puppy is full grown to paint her in. (If she'll fit- the new puppy is a boxer. SHe's small now...)

Holy crap, it's been a week
Real life has gotten a bit busy at the moment. I have a few deadlines coming up, so it may be a few more days before I post any new art. Just FYI. Deadlines are always good things, though. :)

Last weekend, I went to a wedding at which there was something I had not seen before. Sometimes the wedding fol-de-rol can get a bit over the top, but I thought this was really cool. The couple had hired a painter to set up in a corner of the ballroom and paint the scene. She had a digital camera on a tripod for capturing people mid-celebration, and I can only assume that she had painted the empty room beforehand. When we first arrived, she had sketched in the bride and groom, and maybe five other people. By the time we left, she had a lively crowd scene painted in. I'd never seen it before, and I loved it. What a wonderful (and different) memento.

some sketches for the weekend
It's been a busy couple of days, and I am about to go out of town for the weekend. Since I don't have anything finished, I thought I would share a page from my sketchbook. This page is in my "getting to know you" stage of the process of drawing a character.

The Unfinished Drawing
Ok, I've been itching to draw this one. This is from Fernwithy's story "A Place to Rest." Harry visits Andromeda and Teddy for the first time after the events of the Deathly Hallows.

The Grey Lady
I loved finding out a little history on the Grey Lady and the Bloody Baron. I wish I knew why they're lingering at Hogwarts, though!

ravioli
Last night, I made ravioli from scratch. This is the 5th time I've made pasta from hand, and I feel so cool. It's 100% not as hard as I thought it would be, especially since we have a pasta machine. (So fun! You turn the handle and the pasta gets flat! It's like magic!) I mean, I started with eggs and flour, and ended up with ravioli. I'm still marveling a little to myself.

Some thoughts and a picture
So, I'm listening to Order of the Phoenix in my car while reading The Deathly Hallows, and with the new canon, some parts are a little more interesting. Towards the end of OotP, Dumbledore and Harry are talking about Sirius's death, page 834, American edition:

"People don't like being locked up!" Harry said furiously. You did it to me all last summer-"
Dumbledore closed his eyes and buried his face in his long-fingered hands. Harry watched him, but this uncharacteristic sign of exhaustion, or sadness, or whatever it was....

Clearly, (to me anyway!) Dumbledore is thinking of Ariana here. Sniff. I just like going back and reading new thing into familar scenes. And speaking of Dumbledore )

Teddy Lupin
Ok, so here's my tentative plan with this journal. Finishing the Harry Potter series has filled me with an urge to a) reread the heck out of those books and b) draw stuff from them. Ironically, the first thing I've drawn (besides little sketches) is not actually from the books, but from FernWithy's rather phenomenal "Pointless," in which Teddy Lupin said a lot of things I was feeling. So, here's Teddy, with Walburga silently saying her usual type of thing behind him.

Hey, new livejournal
I'm not 100 % sure what I intend to do with this space, to be honest.  There could be blathering. Actually, I kind of expect it. I also plan on there being artwork, much of it Harry Potter themed. What can I say, I'm a fangirl.

I'm fairly sure I'm not alone.
